Next committee meeting

The next committee meeting is on Wednesday Dec. 10, starting at 7.30.

Friday Night U12’s & U14’s

Starting this Friday Nov.15 games are played from 6.30 to 8pm. (be at the ground at 5.30)

The regional Little league tryouts (U12’s)

Melbourne West Giants Little League tryouts for the Victorian Little League championships, will be held on Saturday Nov. 15 and Saturday Nov. 22^nd. at the Geelong Baseball Centre, Pioneer Rd Waurn Ponds at 10 am. Players must be born between 1^st May 1996 & 30^th April 1998 to be eligible. The Little League Victorian Championships will be held from April 4^th to 6^th April 2009. The coaches are Larry Meager and Bruce Wood. Check out the VBA website for a registration form.

Movember 2008

Jonathon Lowe has organized senior player to participate in Movember again this year. Movember is to raise awareness to Men’s health issues. They are looking for sponsors - more details next week.

Lost / misplaced Gear

Jaydon Murphy (an U14 player) has lost his Demarini baseball bat. The bat has “Demarini” coming out of flames, on the bat. It was left in the batting cages and then put in the clubrooms following a senior game and has now been removed from the clubrooms. Please check your bags to see you have picked it up by mistake.

Gear for sale

Brendan Lindsay is selling baseball gear via the notice board in our clubrooms. Bats, cleats and baseball gloves are available. The gear was his son Shane’s who plays in the Colarado Rockies organization in Major league baseball. Check out the noticeboard and call Brendan.  His number is on the gear list.

2008/09 Teeball

The 2008 Teeball has started on Wednesday nights. We are looking for new or returning players, so if you know anyone who is interested in playing, have them turn up on Wednesday night at 5.30 or if they want information. Call Mark Riches 0417 537 621 / 97496821 or Geoff Stafford 0419 358 308. We have 2 age groups (under 7 & over 7).

The fee structure will be the same as last year. Teeball will cost $130 for new players ( players get a club cap, team tshirt, playing pants, baseball glove, back pack, drink bottle, a baseball, registration and insurance for the $130), returning players who don’t require the gear will pay $80.

Thursday Meal nights

13th November: Chinese Night :Sweat and Sour Pork, Lemon Chicken, Beef in Black Bean Sauce, Fried Rice, Steamed Rice & Lasagna.

20th November: $10 Steak Meal, $7.00 Meal: Chicken Schnitzel.

27th November: No meals.

Tuesday & Wednesday night meal deals

Ted & Shane will be opening the canteen on Tuesday & Wednesday nights from this week. They will be offering meal deal specials of a Hotdog & a can of drink $3, chips & a can of drink $3, and another special deal to be announced.

Game results

All junior and senior game results have to be sent in by the home club by SMS. The SMS codes will be kept in a folder in the canteen.

Claxton shield new format

The format has been changed to a South/East team vs. a North/West team playing games on Wednesday nights. Games start at 6.30pm,

Nov. 19. @ Essendon Baseball ground (mel. 16 D5)

The state team will be chosen from these games. The Claxton shield is the senior national championship. Entry to this game is free.

There are no weekly match fees and there are major discounts for early fee payment as set out below:

Seniors;               $300 if paid in full by 1/11/08

                                    $325 if paid after 1/11/08 but before 1/12/08

                                    $350 if paid after 1/12/08      No weekly match fees.

Jrs playing Srs &;      $200 if paid in full by 1/11/08

Full time students       $225 if paid after 1/11/08 but before 1/12/08

                                                $250 if paid after 1/12/08      No weekly match fees.

Juniors;                              $120 if paid in full by 1/11/08

                                                $145 if paid after 1/11/08 but before 1/12/08

                                                $170 if paid after 1/12/08       No weekly match fees.,

Masters                             $170 if paid in full by 1/11/08

                                                $190 if paid after 1/11/08 but before 1/12/08

                                                $210 if paid after 1/12/08 No weekly match fees.    

There will be a $10 reduction in fees for each extra sibling playing baseball.

Community shopping cards

United Fuel station community cards are available at the canteen for club or family members. These cards give the baseball club, 1 cent per litre of fuel purchased. For more information see Steve Knight.

Club uniform

Club uniforms (club caps, t-shirts, training tops, & jackets) can be purchased at the club rooms on Tuesday & Thursday training nights. See Steve Knight, or Steve Smith.

Pants and senior playing tops are purchased from K2 sports. (see Steve Smith for vacant numbers). Please note there is a 2 week period for delivery of the tops.

Junior starter packs

Junior starter packs are available for $80. The packs include a pair of player pants, club t/shirt, club cap & a leather glove. See Mark Riches to be sized.
